“Al Fresco” Restaurant’s summer opening

What should we do tonight? It’s hot, so how about going to an outdoor restaurant…

the first that springs to mind is “Al Fresco”, Grand Hotel Minerva’s outdoor restaurant in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, which just opened a few days ago for the summer season.

Just like last year, an elegant, laid-back atmosphere reigns. We had a glass of prosecco to get started and have something to sip while you peruse the new menu.

I went for fish and my friend chose meat. The starter I chose was exquisite: “Roasted octopus served with a light green sauce and diced vegetables with lemon”.

My main course was just as delicious and with generous servings: “Tuna fillet with capers, vegetable “caponata” and basil sauce.” Pleasing prices and large portions kept me happy.

My friend chose “Beef carpaccio served with fresh goat’s walnut cheese and rucola” as an appetizer and “Lamb chops in percorino cheese crust with stir-friend artichokes” as a main course.

We drank and chatted away happily. The service was perfect from the friendly waiters and maitre d’, and obviously, hats off to the chef for the presentation of the dishes and, most importantly, their deliciousness!

Of course we had to finish up with a dessert. “Small tart with ricotta cream cheese and cherry jam” for me and “White chocolate mousse with strawberries and vanilla” for my friend.

Definitely a restaurant I’d suggest to anyone and a place I’ll go back for sure, especially since I still have to try the pasta dishes!
